Gary Hoover is an operations‑driven executive with 35 years of experience transforming businesses, expanding EBITDA, and delivering measurable value creation across the globe for private equity sponsors in the middle market.
Between 2016 and 2025, Gary built from scratch a Private Equity practice at TBM Consulting Group. This practice eventually grew to more than 60% of TBM’s global business. He and his team partnered with 200 PE firms and their 300+ portfolio companies. Gary has led 70+ operational due diligences, dozens of 100‑day value creation plans, and numerous implementations under compressed timelines. These projects have realized $3B+ in value creation for clients. Gary was a member of TBM’s Board of Directors. His work has been published in Forbes and Bloomberg.
Gary was previously Vice President at ESAB Corporation, a $3B global welding fabrication business. As global business transformation leader, Gary helped triple global operating profit from 3.4% to 10.4% in less than 24 months. Gary subsequently led operations for the $1B+ business in the North and South America region which included 12 manufacturing sites and 2,000 employees across 8 countries. During this time, he was also President of the Board of Directors for Conarco Alambres y Soldaduras in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Earlier in his career, Gary led the European Practice for TBM and was based out of Frankfurt, Germany. He led numerous large-scale global transformations including 23 of Nike’s most critical apparel suppliers across 5 continents. Gary started his manufacturing career at Intel Corporation where he held several manufacturing leadership positions.
Gary earned his M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and received a B.A. from West Virginia University. He served 7 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve as an Air Defense Artillery officer.
Gary and his wife, Ellen, live in Charlotte and have two grown children. Outside of work, he is passionate about outdoor sports including skiing, hiking, and biking.
